ભલે ઝગડીએ,ક્રોધ કરીએ,એકબીજા પર તૂટી પડીએ,
એકબીજા પર દાદાગીરી કરવા, છેલ્લે તો આપણે બેજ હોઈશું.

જે કહેવું હોય એ કહીલે,જે કરવું હોય એ કરીલે,

એકબીજાના ચોકઠા શોધવા છેલ્લે તો આપણે બેજ હોઈશું.

હું રીસાઈશ તો તું મનાવજે, તું રીસાઈશ તો હું મનાવીશ,
એકબીજાને લાડ લડાવવા, છેલ્લે તો આપણે બેજ હોઈશું.

આંખો જયારે ઝાંખી થશે,યાદશક્તિ પણ પાંખી થશે,
ત્યારે,એકબીજાને એકબીજામાં શોધવા છેલ્લે તો આપણે બેજ હોઈશું.

ઘુટણ જયારે દુખશે, કેડ પણ વળવાનું મુકશે,
ત્યારે એકબીજાના પગનાં નખ કાપવા,છેલ્લે તો આપણે બેજ હોઈશું.

મારા રીપોર્ટસ તદ્દન નોર્મલ છે,આઈ એમ ઓલરાઈટ ,
એમ કહીને એકબીજાને છેતરવા,છેલ્લે તો આપણે બેજ હોઈશું.

સાથ જયારે છૂટી જશે,વિદાય ની ઘડી આવી જશે,
ત્યારે, એકબીજાને માફ કરવા,છેલ્લે તો આપણે બેજ હોઈશું.

એક તો ઓછી મદિરા છે ને ગળતું જામ છે. ‘મરીઝ’

કેવી મજાની પ્રેમની દીવાનગી હશે,
કે જ્યાં ‘મરીઝ’ જેવો સમજદાર પણ ગયો.

એના ઈશારા રમ્ય છે, પણ એનું શું કરું-
રસ્તાની જે સમજ દે અને ચાલવા ન દે !

મુજ પર સિતમ કરી ગયા મારી ગઝલના શેર,
વાંચીને એ રહે છે બીજાના ખ્યાલમાં.

એકાદ હો તો એને છુપાવી શકું, ‘મરીઝ’ !
આ પ્રેમ છે ને એના પુરાવા હજાર છે.

લેવા ગયો જો પ્રેમ તો વહેવાર પણ ગયો,
દર્શનની ઝંખના હતી, અણસાર પણ ગયો.

હું કયાં કહું છું, આપની ‘હા’ હોવી જોઈએ,
પણ ના કહો છો એમાં વ્યથા હોવી જોઈએ.

એ ‘ના’ કહીને સહેજમાં છટકી ગયાં ‘મરીઝ’,
કરવી ન જોઈતી’તી ઉતાવળ સવાલમાં.

એ દ્વાર પરના હળવા ટકોરા તો રદ ગયા,
શાયદ એ સાંભળી લે જો માથું પછાડીએ.

એ સૌથી વધુ ઉચ્ચ તબક્કો છે મિલનનો,
કહેવાનું ઘણું હો ને કશું યાદ ન આવે.

બેઠો છું તારી રાહમાં એવી નિરાંતથી,
જાણે કોઈ કહે મને તારી તમા નથી.

એક પળ એના વિના તો ચાલતું નહોતું, ‘મરીઝ’
કોણ જાણે કેમ આખી જિંદગી ચાલી ગઈ.

ફળી છે જે જે આશા, તેના મેં અંજામ જોયા છે,
હવે કાંઈ ખાસ દુ:ખ જેવું નથી થાતું નિરાશાથી.

છે તેથી મારી હરેક વાતમાં પરેશાની,
પવિત્ર દિલ દીધું, જીવન ખરાબ આપીને !

બસ, દુર્દશાનો એટલો આભાર હોય છે,
જેને મળું છું, મુજથી સમજદાર હોય છે.

હવે એની ઉપરથી આપ મારી દુ:ખ કથા સમજો,
જવાનીમાં કરું છું યાદ વીતેલી જવાનીને.

મરણ કે જીવન હો, એ બન્ને સ્થિતિમાં,
‘મરીઝ’, એક લાચારી કાયમ રહી છે.
જનાજો જશે તો જશે કાંધેકાંધે,
જીવન પણ ગયું છે સહારેસહારે.
જિંદગીના રસને પીવામાં કરો જલ્દી, ‘મરીઝ’
એક તો ઓછી મદિરા છે ને ગળતું જામ છે.

જીવનભરના તોફાન ખાળી રહ્યો છું, ફકત એના મોંઘમ ઇશારે ઇશારે
ગમે ત્યાં હું ડૂબું, ગમે ત્યાં હું નીકળું, છે મારી પ્રતીક્ષા કિનારે કિનારે.

અહીં દુઃખની દુનિયામાં એક રંગ જોયો, ભલે સુખનું જગ હો પ્રકારે પ્રકારે.
સુજનની કબર કે ગુનેગારની હો, છે સરખી ઉદાસી મઝારે મઝારે.

નથી ઝંખના મારી ગમતી જો તમને, તો એનું નિવારણ તમારું મિલન છે.
તમે આમ અવગણના કરતાં જશો તો, થતી રહેશે ઇચ્છા વધારે વધારે.

જગતમાં છે લ્હાવા કદમ પર કદમ પર, ફકત એ શરત છે ગતિમાન રહેવું.
નવા છે મુસાફિર વિસામે વિસામે, નવી સગવડો છે, ઉતારે ઉતારે.

મરણ કે જીવન હો એ બન્ને સ્થિતિમાં, ‘મરીઝ’ એક લાચારી કાયમ રહી છે.
જનાજો જશે તો જશે કાંધે કાંધે, જીવન તો ગયું છે સહારે સહારે.
